![]() ![]() Ghosts were all born with the basic white or “Generalist” shell, but most redesign and customize their shells with as much attention to detail and trend as any fashion-conscious human. Ghosts have to open their outer shells and expose their core in order to heal or revive their Guardians, putting them at their most vulnerable, and separating their shell pieces is the Ghost equivalent of putting your hands up. That core is wrapped in a tiny sphere, itself shrouded in a tough white polyhedral shell, possibly made from shards of the Traveler’s own shell, made up of multiple pieces that can move, separate, and expand (and emote). Each Ghost carries a scattered spark of the Traveler’s Light that forms its true core. Ghosts were created by the Traveler at the same moment it sacrificed itself to push back the Darkness. ![]() Hunters.īut also: Ghosts! We’ve spent ages talking about Guardians, but what about those little polyhedra drifting at their sides who bring them back to life after they either a) sacrifice themselves heroically or b) jump off a 30-story building for a laugh? Where did they come from? Who and what are they? How do they choose their Guardians, and how do they bring the dead back to life? Yeah, they’re so desperate to avoid having a real job that they’ve literally been dodging all other Guardians for a year and a half. being Hunter Vanguard after Cayde-6 died. Tommy (and Ghost) give this weapon to the Praxic Warlock Aunor as a quasi-bribe to not tell anyone she caught them in the City at a known Hunter hangout, because all the Hunters are conspicuously avoiding the Tower right now in cause they get conscripted into being a responsible adult i.e. The Hunter is named “Ghost.” Guardians are weird sometimes. ![]() If this is Tommy’s Matchbook, then who’s Tommy? Tommy is a Ghost. Probably not too pleasant for the Guardian being simultaneously healed and burnt to a crisp, but then again it’s probably not too much fun to be on the other end of those flaming bullets, either. Obtain and complete the catalyst to pick up the trait Heat of the Moment, which doesn’t stop Tommy’s Matchbook from setting you on fire, but does greatly boost your health recovery rate to make up for it. Would it surprise you to learn this is a weapon Hunters came up with? It comes down to a question of just how close you dare to cut it. You burn slightly less if you commit to the gangster bit and hip-fire the weapon, but either way even a Guardian can’t tank the damage (unaided) for long. Fire it in classic tommy-gun fashion - holding down the trigger and sweeping it across enemy ranks - and at about round 15 the ammunition will ignite to do extra damage to your targets. #TOMMY MATCHBOOK FULL#At that speed it would rip through a full mag in only 6 seconds, but holding the trigger down for that long miiiiight not be the best idea. ![]() Its 72-round magazine dwarfs other auto rifles (and most machine guns), second only to Sweet Business’ 150, and it fires at a bullet-hose speed of 720 RPM. Thompson, coined the phrase - but Tommy’s Matchbook is an Auto Rifle. The original tommy gun was a submachine gun - in fact its inventor, John T. Turns out: not so much! The idea had instead jumped sideways, like a spreading flame, to the seasonal weapon of Season of the Worthy: Tommy’s Matchbook, a bona-fide tommy gun, the old Chicago typewriter outliving Chicago itself. I concluded that since Eriana’s Vow did not light you on fire after all, they must have discarded that idea. In the entry for Eriana’s Vow I mentioned a Bungie vidoc that discussed building new exotics with better perks balanced by an active downside to using them, and the first one they were thinking about was a hand cannon you could snipe with but it would also light you on fire. Origin & Description: Hey guys let’s talk about Ghosts, although before we talk about that I have to issue a correction. Masterworked Trait: Heat of the Moment - While Ignition Trigger is active, your health recovers much faster. Trait: Heat Sink - Overheat damage is reduced while not aiming down sights. Perk: Ignition Trigger - Sustained fire with this weapon overheats it, increasing damage but burning the user. ![]()
